Fête Nationale du 19 novembre 2016 During the reign of HSH Prince of Monaco, the National Day is held on 19 November, Saint-Rainier day. This joyful day starts with a Te Deum in the Monaco Cathedral attended by the Grimaldi family. The Monegasque people take this opportunity to honour their Princes. Festivities are organised throughout the town, including a magnificent fireworks display, concerts, parades on the Place du Palais and medal ceremonies. The fun fair is in full swing for the delight of children and adults alike; it comes to an end one week after the National Day.

Monaco Grand Prix 2016

The long awaited event of the year, Formula 1 – Monaco Grand Prix, was held from 26th May 2016 until 29th May 2016. Drivers, on this so called royal discipline, were racing on the well-known racetrack Circuit de Monaco. The award for the best pole position went to Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull – TAG Heuer) with time 1:13:622. Nico Rosberg was beaten into second place with time 1:13:791. Lewis Hamilton became the absolute winner of Monaco Grand Prix 2016  with his Mercedes unit. Second place was earned by Daniel Ricciardo and the third place went to Sergio Pérez. 60th wedding anniversary of Princess Grace Kelly and Prince Reiner III.

Hollywood star Grace Kelly and the Prince of Monaco Reiner III. got married on 18th of April 1956 in the Throne Room of the Palace of Monaco. The wedding of the century, also known as the most glamorous wedding ever, was followed by religious wedding on 19th of April in the cathedral of Saint Nicolas. The ceremony with 600 guests was being watched by more than 30 million of people around the world. After the reception, the newly weds went on their honeymoon on the Mediterranean Sea sailing their boat Deo Juvante II.


110th anniversary of Monte-Carlo Rolex Master Tournament

Tournament Monte-Carlo Rolex Master was held from 9th April until 17th April in the presence of HSH Prince Albert II and Princess Charlène. It is considered as one of the most glamorous and exciting event in tennis calendar with its prestigious location. The thrilling final match belonged to Rafael Nadal and Gaël Monfils. Eventually, Rafael Nadal reclaimed his throne by winning for the 9th time. Prince Albert II. and Princess Charlène personally congratulated Rafael Nadal.


The CHILDREN LOVE SWIMMING charity project can save children’s lives

Children from primary schools were selected for the project – non-swimmers aged 7-12 years from socially deprived or disadvantaged families from the whole of Slovakia. 9th of September The Honorary Consulate of Slovak Republic in Monaco was reopened on September 9 in Monte Carlo with the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Miroslav Lajčák.
