MONACO

MONACO

Konzulát Monackého kniežatstva v Slovenskej republike

Geography

Principality is located on Cote d’Azur on the spur of the Alps. The terrain rises from the coast to the mountain range and the first line which is only a few hundred meters from the coast – although already on the French side – amounts to more than 1000m above the sea level. As the terrain rapidly rises, the seabed rapidly drops, allowing ships with deeper draft to anchor.

Monaco is divided into several municipalities:

  • Monaco-Ville – Monaco itself with an old city, The Prince’s palace of the 13th and 16th century, neo-romantic cathedral and Oceanographic museum founded in 1910;
  • La Condamine – new town with harbour, banks and business district;
  • Monte Carlo – spa area with a casino, congress centre and the F1 city ring;
  • Fontvieille – built on the embankment into the sea, residential and industrial buildings, park and new port.
